POLL WORKERS WANTED |
COME WORK WITH US
ON ELECTION DAY !
The Ashland County Board of Elections has always been and continues to be committed in providing the most fair and efficient elections possible to the voters living in Ashland County. We need to share the responsibility of our commitment with approximately 260 poll workers. By serving as a polling place official you get a chance to give back to your community, meet other people from Ashland County, and preserve the democratic process.
WHY AM I NEEDED?
Without polling place officials the election can not be held.
Polling place officials identify the voters as eligible, assist voters when necessary and assure that the election laws of the state are followed.
REQUIREMENTS
You must be a registered voter of Ashland County.
You must be people oriented and enjoy the public.
You must be able to work for the entire election day.
You must be willing to attend a training session.
Be at your assigned polling place at 6:00 a.m.
Assist in preparing the precinct for voting.
Process voters.
Demonstrate voting procedures to voters as needed.
Help close precinct at 7:30 p.m.
Certify work done at precinct.
Presiding Judges must pick up supplies and return them after the polls close to the Board office.
PRECINCT ASSIGNMENTS
The voting precincts must be fully staffed for all primary, general or special elections held in the county.
Each precinct is composed of two (2) Democrats and two (2) Republicans.
The polling place official is appointed to work at each election by the Board of Elections.
Your name will be put on the Alternate Polling Place Official List.
New polling place officials will be assigned to work a precinct based on availability of an opening.
COMPENSATION
Polling place officials are compensated for working Election Day and attending Training Session.
