Below is a calendar of important dates to remember for filing issues
and petitions. This calendar
is only a guideline. If you have questions about

SPECIAL NOTE - Mid-year changes in laws governing certain elections deadline:
Am. Sub HB 48, effective 2, 2010, incorporated the provisions of the federal Military and Overseas Voter Empowerment (MOVE) Act into Ohio law. The MOVE Act seeks to improve the access of uniformed services voters and overseas voters to the absentee voting process. To accommodate an earlier deadline set by these new provisions of law that require absent voters ballots for the uniformed and overseas voters be ready 45 days before an election, candidate petitions filing deadlines have been changed from 75 days before an election to 90 days before an election. These new provisions will affect the filing deadline for candidate deadlines for candidates for state board of education members, write-in candidates and all local questions and issues, including local liquor options for the Nov. 2, 2010 General election.

| Mar. 3, 2010 | Write-In candidates must file Declaration of Intent for the Primary/Special Election by 4:00 pm. |
| April 5, 2010 | Voter registration closes for May 4th Election |
| April 22, 2010 | Pre-primary election campaign finance reports must be filed by 4:00 pm. |
| May 4, 2010 | PRIMARY/SPECIAL ELECTION (polls open at 6:30 am until 7:30 pm). |
| June 11, 2010 | Post-primary election campaign finance reports must be filed by 4:00 pm. |
| July 30, 2010 | Semi-annual election campaign finance reports must be filed by 4:00 pm. |
| Aug. 3, 2010 | SPECIAL ELECTION may be held. |
| NEW- Aug. 4, 2010 | Local questions, issues and candidates nominating petitions for non-partisan races for Nov. 2nd Election must be filed by 4:00 pm |
| NEW- Aug. 23, 2010 | Write-In candidates must file Declaration of Intent for the General Election by 4:00 pm. |
| Oct. 4, 2010 | Voter registration closes for the General Election. |
| Oct. 21, 2010 | Pre-general election campaign finance reports must be filed by 4:00 pm. |
